Thinking about being an electrician??

To become a Journeyman electrician, an apprentice must work 8,000 hours over a period of four years under the supervision of a licensed electrician. The apprentice must also complete 600 classroom hours and pass a test before earning his/her Journeyman license. There are rumors of the apprenticeship program increasing to 10,000-12,000 hours.

To become a Master Electrician, a Journeyman must work for a minimum of one year, complete a 150-hour Master's Course learning business & law, electrical code, calculations, OSHA rules, etc, and pass a four-hour test. Once licensed, a Master Electrician must attend a fifteen-hour code update class every three years as well as complete six hours of additional instruction related to the electrical field.
